Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin has vehemently denied new charges related to the tragic 2021 shooting incident on the set of the film ‘Rust,’ where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins lost her life.

The 65-year-old actor, who was initially charged with involuntary manslaughter, entered a not guilty plea to the recently re-filed charges, casting a renewed spotlight on the high-profile case.

Scheduled for arraignment, Baldwin opted to waive the formal proceeding, as revealed by New Mexico court documents on Wednesday. If found guilty, the veteran actor could potentially face a prison sentence ranging from 18 months to three years.

The new charges were brought forward by a New Mexico grand jury on January 19, reviving the legal scrutiny surrounding Baldwin’s role in the tragic incident.

Interestingly, Baldwin had previously faced charges related to the incident, but they were dropped in April 2023, albeit not entirely dismissed by prosecutors.

Despite the legal turmoil, Baldwin has been released on his recognizance, allowing him to continue promoting the film ‘Rust.’

However, a court order prohibits him from discussing the accident with anyone involved in the production who may be called as a witness or identified as the alleged victim(s).
