Pakistan’s U19 cricket team defeated Ireland on Tuesday during a U19 World Cup match at the Senwes Park stadium in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
The U19 Pakistan team showed remarkable performance as they secured a hard-fought win, defeating Ireland by three wickets with an impressive 38 balls to spare.
Opting to bowl after winning the toss, Pakistan’s bowlers displayed a brilliant performance, restricting Ireland to 181 runs in 48.1 overs.
Obaid Shah led the bowling attack, claiming three crucial wickets while conceding only 31 runs in his ten overs. Meanwhile, Ali Raza, Amir Hasan, and Ahmed Hassan each dismissed two Irish batsmen.
Pakistan’s batting lineup similarly showcased an exceptional performance, successfully chasing down the target of 182 runs in under 44 overs.
Ahmad Hassan’s stellar performance earned him the player of the match award, as he scored an impressive 57 runs off 72 deliveries. Haroon Arshad and Saad Baig also made valuable contributions, scoring 25 runs each.
Despite the defeat, Ireland’s bowler John McNally scored a notable 53 runs off 81 balls. Harry Dyer and Oliver Christopher Riley likewise contributed 31 and 18 runs respectively.
Pakistan will next face off against Bangladesh on February 3 at Sahara Park Willowmoore Cricket Stadium.
