Ceasefire negotiations have reached an advanced stage, with mediators giving names of captives and Palestinian detainees to be exchanged.
Committees from Hamas, Israel, and Egypt have started work on implementing the captive and detainees exchange deal, with Hamas handing over a preliminary list of names of captives to be released to mediators, sources said.
There are seven hostages with dual US-Israeli citizenship; four of them have been declared dead by Israel, and it’s therefore unclear how four could be on the reported list.
Hamas also gave the Egyptians a list of Palestinian security prisoners held in Israel that it wants to be released in exchange for hostages. The list is being reviewed by Israel, the report said, and an Israeli negotiating delegation was set to arrive in Cairo later Monday.
Discussions about who would be set free are considered an advanced stage of negotiations, with earlier stages relating to halting the fighting and maintaining a truce.
Israeli negotiators are reportedly currently discussing the proposal further and agreeing on names of Palestinian detainees to be included on the list.
In a statement following the meeting in Cairo, Hamas said they discussed ceasefire efforts and the Community Support Committee, which would administer the Strip in the day after the war, stressing their eagerness to make the truce deal a success.
