The Counter-Terrorism Department of Punjab claims to have arrested two important commanders of the outlawed Islamic State group and seven other terrorists in separate major operations.

The officials claimed the two arrested Daesh men were planning an attack on sensitive installations.

The two were arrested during an intelligence-based operation in a border village of Lahore. They were identified as Ameenullah and Waqar.

According to the officials, the arrested suspects were important commanders of the Islamic State group and had completed planning for an attack on sensitive installations.

They further said that seven more terrorists were arrested during operations in Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rawalpindi. They belonged to the banned TTP.

Explosive materials, mobile phones, weapons, and cash were seized from the arrested terrorists, the authorities claimed.

Terrorist networks wanted to conduct terrorist attacks in all the sensitive cities simultaneously, the authorities said. Officials have started an investigation by registering cases against the arrested terrorists.
