Grigor Dimitrov secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Paris Masters on Friday, battling past Hubert Hurkacz with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory. Unfortunately for Hurkacz, this loss likely eliminates his chances of qualifying for the season-ending ATP Finals.
Grigor Dimitrov continued his amazing form in recent weeks by downing Hubert Hurkacz in three sets for the Paris Masters semi-final.
Despite hitting 19 aces, the 11th-seeded Hurkacz dropped his serve three times. He can no longer finish among the top eight players of the season.
It was a much better effort compared to the opening set, and it resulted in the 6-4 set win. Dimitrov never really dropped his level all too much but he was outplayed in the second set. The final one saw him break first, and that’s all he needed.
Hurkacz was pretty good in the final set outside of that one game which Dimitrov played perfectly. The final score was 6-1 4-6 6-4 for the Bulgarian, who finished with 9 aces and 30 winners.
The 32-year-old Dimitrov reached the last four at the indoor tournament for the second time in his career.
