Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews made an unusual cricket record as he became the first player to get “timed out” in international cricket in the World Cup match against Bangladesh.
This happened because he took too long to be ready to face the next ball after a previous batter got out. The rules say a batter has to be ready within two minutes, but Mathews took too much time.

elmet, and Chamika Karunaratne promptly delivered one to him. However, after consulting with Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan, umpire Marais Erasmus informed Mathews that he was out.
When Mathews got this news, he didn’t believe it at first. He even had a discussion with the umpires and Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan.
But in the end, the decision to dismiss him was upheld, and he was not happy about it.

“After the fall of a wicket or the retirement of a batter, the incoming batter must, unless Time has been called, be ready to receive the ball or for the other batter to be ready to receive the next ball within 2 minutes of the dismissal or retirement. If this requirement is not met, the incoming batter will be out, Timed out.”
As per the ICC Playing Conditions, a batter must be prepared to face the ball within two minutes. Mathews failed to adhere to this rule.
