Barcelona winger Ferran Torres is gearing up for a crucial week for the Spanish champions, who are grappling with a string of injuries, including the absence of star striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Catalan giants are set to face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, with the aim of securing their third consecutive victory in European competition. Following this, they will host their arch-rivals Real Madrid in the season’s inaugural La Liga Clasico.
Despite his struggles with form since joining Barcelona from Manchester City in 2022, Torres is eager to step up and contribute during this challenging period. In a press conference ahead of the Shakhtar clash, he expressed his confidence and readiness to make a difference for the team.
“I’ve got a lot of injuries; I think that I am ready to take this step forward; I’m very confident, and I’m prepared for what’s coming,” Torres stated. He emphasised that, while he doesn’t need more confidence, there’s room for improvement in various aspects of his game.
Torres, at 23, considers himself in the early stages of his career, and he acknowledged the support of coach Xavi Hernandez, who brought him to Barcelona and continued to provide guidance during difficult phases.
