Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has issued a challenge to wingers Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku, urging them to prove their worth in the team’s attack.

Grealish, who played a crucial role in City’s treble-winning campaign last season, has faced injury setbacks this season. In his absence, the young Belgian talent Doku has excelled.

Guardiola, addressing reporters, highlighted that both players can offer different threats from the flanks and that they will compete not only with each other but also with Phil Foden, who can play on the left.

The manager emphasised that the player who performs better and feels more in form will earn more playing time.

City has enjoyed a stellar start to their title defence, with six wins in as many games. Guardiola downplayed the notion that the upcoming Premier League clash against Wolves would be a straightforward victory, given Wolves’ potential.

He acknowledged Wolves’ qualities and expressed his determination to perform well in the next three games leading up to the international break.

Guardiola also revealed that John Stones and Bernardo Silva will remain sidelined for the upcoming game. Stones has been out of action since August due to a thigh injury, while Silva sustained an injury in a recent Champions League match.
