In a significant development, Lebanon’s Hezbollah has launched its first-ever attack on Israeli military positions using explosive drones, marking a dangerous escalation in the ongoing clashes at the border that have persisted for over three weeks.
The Israeli army responded by targeting multiple Hezbollah positions in Lebanon following a series of drone launches toward Israel, as reported on the social media platform X.
The Lebanon National News Agency confirmed that Israeli artillery shells struck various areas along the southern border.
Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, issued a statement claiming responsibility for the attack. They disclosed the use of two drones loaded with explosives to target an Israeli army command post in the disputed Shebaa Farms area along the Lebanese-Israeli border.

The health ministry in the Gaza Strip said Thursday the death toll there since the start of Israel’s war against Hamas had surpassed 9,000.
The ministry said 9,061 had been killed since the war began with the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. Of these, 3,760 were children and an additional 32,000 had been wounded, the ministry said.
More foreigners prepared to leave the besieged Gaza Strip on Thursday as at least 195 Palestinians died in Israel’s attacks on the Jabalia refugee camp, strikes that UNhuman rights officials said could be war crimes.
At least 320 foreign citizens on an initial list of 500, as well as dozens of severely injured Gazans, crossed into Egypt on Wednesday under a deal among Israel, Egypt, and Hamas.
