The Iraqi cabinet has set November 11 as the date for a parliamentary election, it said on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani’s media office issued a statement announcing new polling date without providing any further details.
The last Iraqi parliamentary elections were held on Oct. 10, 2021.
IHEC affirmed that nearly 30 million citizens are eligible to cast their ballots in the forthcoming parliamentary elections, declaring its full preparedness to ensure the electoral process is conducted on schedule.
In addition, IHEC indicated that registration centers across the governorates are presently engaged in biometric enrollment of voters, as part of broader preparations for the upcoming elections, which are slated to be held 45 days before the expiration of the current parliamentary term.
The commission further indicated that all devices employed during the elections will be electronic, affirming its readiness to finalize both international and domestic accords for the procurement of electoral materials and the execution of other pertinent technical arrangements. (QNA)
