President Arif Alvi and Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar have called for restraint after escalating violence in the Middle East, following Israeli air strikes in Gaza in response to a barrage of more than 2,000 rockets fired from the strip.

In a post on X, erstwhile Twitter, on Saturday, President Arif Alvi said that he was “deeply disturbed” over the escalation of violence in Palestine and Israel.

“There should be maximum restraint to prevent further bloodshed and loss of human lives. The situation calls for an immediate ceasefire as the hostility and confrontation between Palestine and Israel will further increase the sufferings of the people,” he said.

Moreover, Kakar wrote on X that he was heartbroken by the escalating violence in the Middle East, which underscores the urgent need to address the Palestine question.

“We urge restraint and protection of civilians. Enduring peace in the Middle East lies in a two-state solution with a viable, contiguous, sovereign State of Palestine, founded on pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al-Sharif at its heart,” said Kakar.
