A landslide has claimed the lives of 54 individuals in the southern Philippines. The incident occurred in the mountain village of Masara, situated in Davao de Oro province, on Tuesday night amidst a backdrop of relentless rainfall over the preceding weeks.

According to a recent update from the provincial government of Davao de Oro, shared via social media platform Facebook, the death toll has tragically climbed to 54 as recovery efforts continue.

In addition to the lives lost, the landslide has left 32 residents injured, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Despite ongoing search and rescue operations, hope dwindles as 63 individuals remain unaccounted for, adding to the anguish of families and communities affected by this natural disaster.
