The Lahore High Court has ordered authorities to submit a report on the arrest of former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed by September 22.

Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan presided over petitions against Rasheed’s arrest in the LHC’s Rawalpindi bench on Tuesday.

Rasheed’s lawyer Sardar Abdul Razzaq told the court that police had arrested Rasheed and others without any warrant and they have been shifted to an unknown location.

His lawyer also told the court that not only was his arrest illegal but he had also not been produced in court yet.

The court then issued notices to the federal government, the IG Punjab, and the CPO and RPO of Rawalpindi.

Rasheed was arrested along with his secretary and nephew from Bahria Town Islamabad on Sunday. After a denial by the Islamabad police, IG Punjab Usman Anwar had confirmed that he was in the custody of the Punjab police.
