Manchester United and England’s resilient defender, Luke Shaw, has made a triumphant return to training following an extended period on the sidelines due to injury, as officially announced by the club on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old left-back encountered a “muscle issue” early in the season, but he is now fully engaged in training, gearing up for the upcoming Premier League clash with Everton scheduled for Sunday.

Shaw’s absence created a void at left-back, compounded by Tyrell Malacia’s season-long injury. To address this, the club secured the loan signing of Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham, providing an additional option for the position. Sofyan Amrabat, Diogo Dalot, and Victor Lindelof have also stepped in to cover the defensive role.

A pivotal player in United’s success last season, Shaw’s return is eagerly awaited, especially as the team, under Erik ten Hag, has faced challenges with an inconsistent start to the current campaign. The club is currently in sixth place in the Premier League, having lost five of their first 12 games.

In addition to Shaw’s return, United face various injury concerns heading into their match at Goodison Park. Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund join the list of absentees after the international break, with goalkeeper Andre Onana sustaining an injury while on duty with Cameroon.

Looking ahead, United faces a critical Champions League encounter against Galatasaray next week, positioned at the bottom of their group. The team is fully aware that a defeat in this match would result in their elimination from the competition.
