Tragedy struck the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as four current or former employees were discovered dead last Monday and Tuesday, with the deaths being investigated as suicides.

The incidents, unrelated to one another, include the death of a captain at his Saugus residence on Monday morning, followed by a retired deputy found dead in the Antelope Valley later that day.

Additionally, a custody assistant, identified as a jail official, was found dead in the Santa Clarita area on Monday. Early Tuesday, a deputy working in a jail was found unresponsive at home, and later pronounced dead at a Pomona hospital.

While all cases are treated as suicides, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has yet to confirm the causes of death.
