Palestinian group Hamas said on Tuesday that talks for the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire had begun.
“Contacts and negotiations for the second phase have begun, and we are currently focused on shelter, relief and reconstruction for our people in Gaza,” Hamas spokesman Abdel Latif al-Qanou said in a statement, without specifying who was involved in the current negotiations, a little more than two weeks since the first phase went into effect.
Israel will send a delegation to Doha this week for talks on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
“Israel is preparing for the working-level delegation to leave for Doha at the end of this week in order to discuss technical details related to the continued implementation of the agreement,” the office said in a statement following meetings in Washington between Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump.
