The first votes of the New Hampshire GOP primary have been cast, with all six voters backing former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley in the tiny town of Dixville Notch which became the first place to declare primary results.

“A great start to a great day in New Hampshire,” Haley said in a statement reacting to the vote. “Thank you Dixville Notch!”

Voters in Dixville Notch cast ballots at midnight, a tradition that dates back to 1960, CNN reported.

The first votes came in after Haley and her fellow Republican candidate Donald Trump made their final appeals to New Hampshire voters Monday ahead of the state’s pivotal 2024 primary contest.

However, President Joe Biden will not be on the New Hampshire ballot following an internal party dispute over the primary’s date. There is a state campaign for him to be a write-in candidate.

This is also the first time this year, that both Democrats and Republicans are headed to the polls — though only one party will award delegates to presidential hopefuls in New Hampshire.

Fresh off his commanding win in Iowa, Trump seeks another big win in a state where his former UN Ambassador has concentrated her efforts to derail the former president.

There are 22 delegates at stake in New Hampshire.

Results from the rest of New Hampshire will start to arrive after polls begin to close at 7 pm ET.
