At least 11 members of a family including women and children were allegedly murdered inside their house by a relative over an enmity in Takhtikhel area of Lakki Marwat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, DPO Lakki Marwat Tariq Habib said.
“They were stabbed to death with a sharp-edged weapon. The victims included two brothers identified as Alambardar and Tabidar, their wives and children, and a nephew,” he added.
The police moved the bodies to District Hospital Lakki Marwat, he said, adding that investigations have been initiated in the matter while raids were being carried out to arrest the suspect.
DPO Habib said that the police suspect the father-in-law of Alambardar’s daughter for the killings. The suspect visited their home a few days earlier and was since staying at their house as a guest.
“There was a vacant bed present at the house which means that there was another person in the house besides the residents,” he added.
According to DPO Habib, the two brothers’ residence was located far away from the main populated area and they were living in two houses separated by a wall.
“It seems that the suspect used a ladder to entre the second house after killing the residents of the first house. The crime is likely to have been carried out a couple of days ago,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention that a member of the same family was killed a month ago after which the locals had protested by blocking the Indus Highway.
At least eight people, including women and children, were shot dead by unknown assailants in their house in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P)
Earlier, police said that armed men barged into a house and opened indiscriminate fire killing eight members of the family. They added that the assailants escaped after the attack.
However, the police’s statement changed later today and alleged that the death toll was 11 and the victims were killed with a sharp-edge weapon
