Passport applicants face delays due to shortage of lamination paper

Unavailability of lamination paper may increase the duration of passport delivery

The Pakistani passport department has reportedly run out of lamination papers for new passports, which is causing delays for applicants. This is bad news for people who need to get a passport for travel, such as those going abroad for Umrah, medical treatment, or education.

According to informed sources, the relevant authorities did not take timely measures to ensure a sufficient supply of lamination paper. Last week, there was no improvement in the supply chain, and there is now a fear that the printing and delivery of new passports will be affected across the country.

The unavailability of lamination paper may increase the duration of passport delivery. For example, the delivery of passports with a normal fee will probably be one month. This delay will cause difficulties for applicants across the country, especially those who need to travel abroad for Umrah, treatment, or education.

Despite the alleged non-availability of lamination paper, new applications are still being received. There is also a fear that the number of pending passports will increase due to printing problems.

The passport department has not yet issued a statement on the matter. It is unclear when the shortage of lamination paper will be resolved and how long the delays will last. Applicants are advised to check the passport department’s website for updates.
