Pakistan International Airlines continues to reel from a fuel supply crisis with 49 more flights being cancelled on Thursday despite payments being made to Pakistan State Oil. The total number of flights cancelled in the last 10 days has reached 479.

Reports said that a payment of Rs130 million has been made by the airline to PSO. However, it has not led to any relief from the burden on the national flag carrier.

The reports also added that PIA’s deficit reached a mammoth Rs712.8 billion in June this year. The airline owes Rs435 billion in debt while Rs156 billion is needed to keep it operational.

PIA is facing losses worth Rs500 million daily which have amounted to losses of $7 billion over the last 10 days.
