Ranbir Kapoor is making headlines for his stellar performance in Animal, leading the film to gross INR 116 crore on the opening day, marking the biggest opening for a non-holiday Hindi movie release.

Taking to Twitter, now X, the film’s creators shared the promotional poster for the feat, it reads, “The biggest non-holiday opening in Hindi Cinema ever. Worldwide gross ₹116 cr.”

In line with the previous predictions, the Sandeep Reddy film smashed box office numbers, however, the movie narrowly failed to replace Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan’s ₹125.05 crore to become the highest-grossing movie of this year.

However, the film received mixed reviews from the critics. The reviewers pointed out the movie’s blatant misogyny, bloodshed, and toxicity.

Writing for the Times of India, critic Renuka Vyavahare wrote, “Ranbir Kapoor can be Joaquin Phoenix but Animal’s no Joker.”
