A collision between a Surabaya-bound train and a minibus at an East Java level crossing has left 11 dead and numerous others injured. The accident occurred around 1300 GMT, broadcaster Kompas TV reported.
At the Lumajang crossing, lacking railway crossbars, the train collided with a minibus carrying a dozen passengers, instantly claiming ten lives, with another succumbing to injuries at a local health center.
Four individuals, including a child, are currently under treatment, their relationship unclear.
The absence of warning signs for the driver has ignited concerns about safety measures. Eyewitnesses reported the train proceeded on its journey post-collision.
