Donald Trump has backed Elon Musk after Time magazine unveiled a new cover alongside an article looking at the billionaire’s “war on Washington”.

Trump is then asked about Elon Musk and the latest cover of TIME magazine, which shows the tech billionaire sitting behind Trump’s resolute desk.

While speaking with reporters from the White House during a meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, Trump was asked if he had any response to the magazine seemingly portraying his right-hand man as the one really in charge.

“Is Time magazine still in business?” Trump responded while smirking. “I didn’t even know that.”

He went on to compliment Musk by saying he is doing “a great job” and is “finding tremendous fraud and corruption and waste.”

“You see it with the USAID, but you’re going to see it even more so with other agencies and other parts of government,” Trump said.

“He’s got a fantastic staff. He’s wanted to be able to do this for a long time. Everybody else knew it was existent, but I think never so much.”

Musk has yet to respond to the cover but did have nothing but good things to say about the president on X.

The February 24 issue of the magazine depicts Elon Musk as the president of the United States, sitting on the Resolute Desk, which is used by U.S. presidents in the Oval Office of the White House.

The photo teases a cover story titled “Inside Elon Musk’s War on Washington” which dives into his efforts with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut down on excessive government spending.
