Former US President Donald Trump has suggested that Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, may not be able to effectively serve in a hypothetical cabinet position in Trump’s administration due to the significant time and demands required to manage his business operations.

“He wants to be involved. Now look, he’s running big businesses and all that, so he can’t I don’t think he could be a cabinet,” Trump said.

In an interview with former Navy Seal Shawn Ryan, he said: “I’d put him in the cabinet, absolutely, but I don’t know how he could do that with all the things he’s got going.”

“He can sort of, as the expression goes, consult with the country and give you some very good ideas,” Trump said.

In the past, Trump and Musk had a public feud, exchanging insults on social media and at political events. However, their relationship has shifted in the last couple of years, with Musk now emerging as an ally of Trump’s.

Recently, Musk publicly endorsed Trump, even doing so shortly after an assassination attempt on the former president. Musk has also been involved in forming a pro-Trump political action committee.

Meanwhile, Trump has resumed posting on the X platform (formerly Twitter) after a period of exclusively using his social media site, Truth Social. Both Trump and Musk have hinted at the possibility of governing together if Trump were to win another term as president.

“I think it would be great to just have a government efficiency commission,” Musk said in a conversation with Trump earlier this month streamed on X. “And I’d be happy to help out on such a commission.”
