The United States envoy and its consul general in Lahore have emphasised support for a thriving and democratic Pakistan.
Ambassador Blome and CG Hawkins met with caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday.
Separately, Ambassador Blome also met with Punjabi Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar.
He discussed the safeguarding of human rights and respect for the law, according to a statement issued by the US embassy.
Access to justice for women and girls was also discussed
In the meeting, cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries was discussed – protection of human rights and respect for the rule of law were discussed, the statement added.
During Bloom’s meeting with Naqvi, the two discussed opportunities for increasing US trade and investment, the importance of protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms of religious minorities, and respect for democracy and the rule of law, the statement said.
Ambassador Bloom reiterated the commitment to expand US-Pakistan economic relations and cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
