9 soldiers killed in Bannu suicide attack

ISPR says suicide bomber riding motorcycle blew himself near Army convoy

RAWALPINDI: At least nine soldiers of Pakistan Army Killed on Thursday when a motorcycle-borne suicide bomber exploded himself on a military convoy.

Among the nine soldiers included Naib Subedar Sanobar Ali, while five troops were injured in the attack, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Pakistan Armed Forces said security forces are determined to end the scourge of terrorism and such sacrifices of brave men strengthen our resolve.

The suicide blast occurred in Mali Khel area of Janikhel of district Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

There was no immediate claim from any group, but the suspicion is likely to fall on the Pakistani Taliban, who have stepped up attacks on security forces since 2022

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, while expressing his condolences, said that he was heartbroken by the loss of valiant soldiers in Bannu.

In a post on his X handle, he said, “Heartbroken by the loss of 9 valiant soldiers in Bannu Division, KPK, to a cowardly terrorist act that injured many. Such acts are utterly reprehensible. My thoughts are with the families of the martyred and injured. Pakistan stands resolute against such terror.”
