Israel is reportedly investigating Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar’s “death” in the light of his disappearance and silence for a relatively long time.
The probe is “based on the fact that Sinwar has been incommunicado in recent weeks” after Israel Defence Forces (IDF) intelligence’s claims that the Hamas chief has been killed in one of the IDF strikes in Gaza, as per Israeli media reports.
However, his death was currently an unlikely speculation that was not backed by any hard evidence, as per Times of Israel.
“Investigations are underway to find out if Sinwar is advertently silent or it’s another matter,” an Israeli newspaper said.
After Ismail Haniyeh’s death, Gaza-based Sinwar was appointed as Hamas’s political head last month.
