Low rainfall record makes August second driest month in 63 years

The driest August ever recorded in Pakistan occurred in 1993 when only 16.4mm of rainfall was registered.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has reported that August 2023 marked the second driest August in Pakistan since records began 63 years ago.

The national rainfall for the month was significantly below average, with a deficit of 66%, according to the PMD’s monthly climate summary published on Tuesday.

The driest August ever recorded in Pakistan occurred in 1993 when only 16.4mm of rainfall was registered.

The data further revealed that for Balochistan it’s the driest August, for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) & Punjab it was the 2nd driest, for AJK the 3rd driest and for Sindh the 6th driest August
