Ghazi Hammad, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, while talking live on Al Jazeera said that the armed group is committed to the four-day truce agreement and is willing to release all captives in exchange for the release of all Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

He also said that the group is currently working on a possible extension of the truce together with international partners.

“Our priority is to stop the aggression against our people. We want to stop this genocide in Gaza,” he said.

Hammad condemned the role of the United States in the war, calling it Israel’s partner in “genocide”.

“They are always supporting Israel. From the beginning of this war the US is their partner in this crime … in this ethnic cleansing,” he told Al Jazeera.

Asked if there were any negotiations ongoing to release US citizens, Hammad said the armed group is interested in releasing all civilians regardless of their nationality.

The Israeli Prison Service has now received a list of 39 Palestinian prisoners who are scheduled to be released today as part of the truce deal between Israel and Hamas, Al Jazeera reported citing Israeli media.

Meanwhile, Al Jazeera previously reported that 13 people held captive in Gaza are also scheduled to be released today.

However, the timings for the release have not been issued yet.
