NEW YORK CITY – In a shocking and brazen incident, two teenagers stole an unoccupied subway train from a Queens station and took it for a joyride, crashing into another out-of-service train car.
The theft and joyride occurred on September 11 at the Briarwood subway station. The stolen train was driven approximately 50 feet before colliding with the other train.
A 17-year-old girl was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. Police are still searching for the second suspect, described as a male with a slim build, last seen wearing a blue tank top, red shorts, and carrying a black backpack.
The incident has raised concerns about subway safety and security. An investigation is ongoing.
